Sancti Spíritus, capital of the “yellow cars”

Sancti Spíritus is undergoing a transformation of its urban transportation system thanks to the Energy Transition Project, an initiative that seeks to modernize mobility, reduce fossil fuel consumption, and move toward a more sustainable and efficient model. This project, driven by the Ministry of Transportation in coordination with provincial and local authorities, introduces new technological solutions adapted to the city’s needs and environmental protection.

At the heart of this strategy are the so-called “yellow cars,” light electric vehicles designed for public transportation. These cars, which operate on defined routes within the city, represent a modern and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional transportation based on combustion engines. Their implementation responds not only to the need to diversify forms of mobility but also to Cuba’s commitments to energy efficiency and the reduction of polluting emissions.
