Neighborhoods in Sancti Spíritus experience summer to the rhythm of the arts

An initiative by the Municipal Directorate of Culture in Sancti Spíritus has been very well received this summer. Diverse offerings are engaging with local audiences who are otherwise furthest removed from the sector’s institutional network.

Luis Ángel Cruz, a communications specialist at the agency, explained: ” ‘Neighborhood Party’ encompasses our children’s projects—initiatives led by the young artists themselves, such as Yayaberito, La Colmena Espirituana, Andarte, and Haciendo Futuro. They travel to neighborhoods—such as Sixth Street in Kilo 12 and the Colón People’s Council, among others—to interact directly with the local children.

“It is a real celebration whenever one of these projects visits; quality is guaranteed, and the performers are top-notch. This keeps recreation and culture alive and active in the neighborhoods and communities where they appear. Meanwhile, the summer parties are geared more toward adults and also take place in various neighborhoods. This initiative, which was presented in the Sobral area, is also scheduled for Colón; these events feature adult-oriented groups—specifically our traditional ensembles, with a prominent role played by Charanga XL.”
