Successful aneurysm surgeries place Sancti Spíritus at the forefront of Cuba

The successful completion of four highly complex aneurysmal vascular surgeries this year places the Neurosurgery Service at the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial Hospital in Sancti Spíritus among the most advanced in Cuba for the treatment of high-risk cerebrovascular diseases.

Carlos Aquino Pedraza, a first-degree specialist in neurosurgery, highlighted that among the cases performed was that of a 66-year-old patient with a giant 26-cubic-millimeter cerebral aneurysm, who remains hospitalized.

According to Aquino Pedraza, the continuation of these procedures has been possible thanks to a process of constant innovation within the service itself, which included adapting resources, refining surgical techniques, and seeking alternatives to ensure the performance of highly complex operations even in situations of material limitations.
