Hotel Meliá Trinidad Peninsula wins National Energy Efficiency Award

The Meliá Trinidad Peninsula Hotel has been awarded the National Energy Efficiency Award thanks to its exceptional resource management and self-sustainability, achieved through the implementation of photovoltaic panels.

The hotel’s general manager, Juan Pereira, explains the attributes that have enabled them to receive this recognition:

“The hotel produces 80% of its electricity during peak solar radiation hours, thanks to 1500 photovoltaic panels and a battery station that stores part of that energy. This station acts as a regulator that protects the hotel from any voltage changes.

In addition, the hotel has its own laundry, which provides operational stability in times of high occupancy. It also has an irrigation system that uses rainwater collected from the rooftops, which reinforces its environmental sustainability.”

Thanks to these outstanding results in the efficient management of energy and the use of renewable sources, as well as in the protection of the environment in the service and tourism sector, the hotel will be the first smart company in Cuba.
