Sancti Spíritus continues to lead the country in environmental management

Sancti Spíritus is celebrating its ninth consecutive year as a leading province in the lead-up to World Environment Day, a designation it has held since 2018.

This was confirmed at a press conference by Néstor Álvarez Cruz, Deputy Delegate of the Environment Ministry in the province. “Sancti Spíritus has been a leading province and host province for several years now, thanks to the continuous work we have been developing, which has recently yielded significant results.

“We have focused primarily on the principles and application of the strategy for introducing the circular economy as a key element in territorial and local development. In this regard, we have been working throughout the province, and there are examples that have even received national innovation awards, as well as others that, while not national awards, have received significant endorsements and are highly influential and, from an environmental perspective, very deserving of recognition.” In that sense, the province has worked primarily on developing the introduction of circular economy principles in entities within the territory.
