Photojournalist from Sancti Spíritus receives the Shield of the City

Oscar Alfonso Sosa, son of Juan Francisco, a community near Yaguajay, and a natural lover of documenting events and their protagonists, received the Shield of the City of Sancti Spíritus.

“More than anything, and what pleases me most, is a recognition of the Cuban News Agency. Our bureau has deserved it for a long time, not because I’m here, but because the team is present everywhere and in a distinctive way. That makes me proud. And more than a satisfaction, it signifies a commitment.”

This is the highest distinction awarded by the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power and is received during the celebration of the 512th anniversary of the city of Sancti Spíritus.

“It comes to keep us working, to ensure we are never behind, to always be present in terms of our work and agendas. There is a lot of effort and sacrifice involved; there’s no other way. These are the times we’re living in, but we have to keep moving forward, and we are.”

For more than 35 years, Oscar Alfonso Sosa has kept pen and camera at the ready, in favor of a city that, although not his birthplace, has managed to seduce him.
