Trio Gathering to Bring Music to the Casa Espirituana de la Trova This Friday and Saturday

The 37th edition of the Roberto Jiménez Trio Gathering—one of the longest-running and most cherished events in the cultural life of Sancti Spíritus—will take place this September 25 and 26.
The event will kick off with an educational activity at the Ernesto Lecuona Art School; subsequently, the headquarters of the Provincial Committee of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) will host a discussion and dialogue with the Miraflores Trio regarding the history and contributions of this type of musical group to Cuban music.
Daylin Meneses Díaz, director of the Manuel Nápoles Granado Provincial Center for Music and Performing Arts in Sancti Spíritus, noted that “this 37th edition of the Trio Gathering is adapted to current times. The goal is to maintain—with limited resources but high quality and everyone’s dedication—an event that defines the province, particularly its musical scene.
“We have kept the trio performances, the theoretical session, and the jam sessions at the Casa de la Trova that characterize gatherings of this kind. The main objectives remain the same: promoting our trios and their music, fostering interaction with the audience, and paying tribute to an outstanding group—this year, the Voces Nuevas Trio, marking their 25th anniversary. Two key highlights will be the theoretical session and the special serenade.”
The 37th edition of the Roberto Jiménez Trio Gathering will conclude on Saturday night at the Miguel Companioni Casa de la Trova with a grand jam session.
