The Voices of the Republic Colloquium reaffirms its deserved prestige

The prestige of the Voices of the Republic Colloquium is well-earned and deserved. It is the country’s most vibrant and relevant event, scrutinizing a period in our history where the shadows have often been more prominent than the light.

This was confirmed during its closing ceremony at the Rubén Martínez Villena Provincial Library in Sancti Spíritus, according to Dr. Maximiliano Trujillo Lemes, a recurring figure at each event and a Doctor of Philosophical Sciences.

“For me, this is my natural habitat.” Voces de la República remains the most important theoretical and scientific space in the country for reflecting on the so-called republican period in Cuba, the one that extends from the first American intervention in 1898 until perhaps approximately 1959. And furthermore, on a personal level, I have researched philosophical thought in Cuba during the republican period, and therefore it is almost logical that I try to be here, despite the circumstances, to listen to others, but also to bring some of what I work on in my research projects.”
