The 22nd Working Class Congress to speak out against the imperialist strangulation of Cuba
Under exceptional circumstances and adapted to the current situation, the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) will hold the final sessions of its 22nd Congress virtually.
Ekaterine Gowen Dickinson, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and general secretary of the CTC in Sancti Spíritus, explained that “this Congress will be held from the provinces, and only those comrades who will be members of the CTC National Council will travel to Havana. But we cannot cancel the Congress.”
“I believe there are a number of proposals, a number of issues that are important for the Cuban labor movement that need to be discussed. As I mentioned, part of the delegation is going to Havana, and the rest of the delegates will participate via videoconference from the province.
“And I believe the first thing we will raise is our support for the revolutionary process, for the defense of the homeland. There is an imperialism that exerts pressure every day and implements measures to continue suffocating the economy, to continue suffocating the Cuban people, and I believe it is time for the working class to speak out against these measures, against this economic suffocation that we are experiencing every day.
“Furthermore, I believe it is also the right time to continue seeking proposals to ensure that the socialist state enterprise continues to improve and strengthen. The delegation from Sancti Spíritus has already been formed. Thirty-nine comrades from Sancti Spíritus will participate in the Congress.”
