Sancti Spíritus implements a plan of measures to the current cuban situation
The province of Sancti Spíritus has implemented a series of contingency measures to manage the current fuel shortage. The measures, presented by Governor Alexis Lorente Jiménez and sector directors, involve a temporary reorganization of economic and administrative activity.
The plan, designed for an initial period, is based on prioritizing available fuel for essential services and reducing consumption. “All actions are aimed at continuing to explore how we can minimize the impact on the population with the resources we have,” the Governor explained.
Provincial authorities announce energy-saving measures
The main measure consists of the mandatory power outage in all state service buildings, with an emphasis on administrative offices, from midnight on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. This measure may be extended to some weekdays. The goal is to achieve tangible energy savings amidst the critical situation.
To this end, each state entity must adjust its staffing levels and identify only the personnel strictly necessary for a period of 20 days. In the areas that are left unoccupied, the circuit breakers will be switched off to eliminate any phantom power consumption. Simultaneously, remote work will be promoted, in accordance with Resolution 71 of the Ministry of Labor, which facilitates teleworking and other non-office-based modalities, in order to reduce congestion in government institutions.
“In these areas, we need to achieve the complete disconnection of all state and non-state sectors that do not provide essential services, such as cooking food for the population. We also need to ensure that residents of these areas take extreme energy-saving measures. Together with ONURE (National Office for Energy Conservation) and the workers of the Electric Company, we will be in each of these blocks measuring electrical consumption to ensure that people in these areas also conserve energy week after week,” the governor stated.
