New generations boost the work of aviation in Sancti Spíritus
Amid the roar of engines and the metallic clang of tools, a young technician at the Sancti Spíritus airport demonstrates that aviation remains alive in the new generations.
His name is Raciel Osorio Quesada, an engine and fuselage technician, just 30 years old with nearly two years of experience at the National Air Services Company of Sancti Spíritus.
Raciel spent nine years in the Revolutionary Armed Forces before joining the civil aviation industry. Military discipline paved the way for him in a sector where precision and responsibility are vital.
“Since I started here, my more experienced colleagues have taken me under their wing, they treat me like a grandson, like a son, so I’ve felt right at home. In this field, technical discipline is crucial because whenever an aircraft flies, there’s always a risk to the crew. If an aircraft has an incident, it’s a major problem; it can affect their lives or lead to a loss of technical expertise, which is also essential. I’ve learned a lot here, thanks to my more experienced colleagues, and I’ve had a variety of important tasks.”
Although he currently works in the workshop, his dream is to become a flight technician, accompanying aircraft in the air. “It’s what I love to do. I feel good working and doing what I love. When you do what you love, you always try to do your best. And well, any young people who want to join us here should come. It’s great, you’ll learn a lot. Just like I’ve learned, and well, this is wonderful, aviation is beautiful.”
The story of Rasel Osorio Quesada is proof that civil aviation continues to grow. At the Sancti Spíritus airport, generations work together like cogs in a machine. Veterans contribute experience, and young people add energy. When you work at what you love, the result is always commitment and excellence.
