Book Fair offers titles of interest for different age groups in Sancti Spíritus

Sancti Spíritus is set to host a three day event where literature takes center stage. Although the number of titles arriving for the local leg of the 34th International Book Fair is quite small compared to previous years, there are still offerings capable of capturing the top spot for readers of any age group.

Saily Alba Álvarez, director of the Raúl Ferrer Literary Promotion Center, highlights some of the titles that will be available to readers in Sancti Spíritus starting this Friday.

“We will be selling *100 preguntas sobre Martí* (100 Questions About Martí) by Francisca López Siveira—a fascinating compilation aimed at children and young people. Also available are *Cuentos de Guane* by Nersi Felipe—stories about childhood and home life—as well as *El Collero Azul* by Dora Alonso, *El Niño de las Preguntas*, *The Little Prince*, *Había Una Vez*, *La Edad de Oro*, *The Adventures of Tom Sawyer*, *Oros Viejos*, *Papatino y Mamá Gorda*, *Soñar Despierto*, *Volver a Cantar Te Quiero*, and *Winnie the Pooh*.”

“Among the new releases at the fair is the work *Esteban No Lo Sabía* by Yolanda Felicitas Rodríguez Toledo—an author from Sancti Spíritus—which won the Hermanos Loynás Award in 2025. Another new addition, appearing in a re-edition, is *El niño aquel* by Senel Paz. We also feature the book *Los habaneros nunca invitan a comer* by Emerio Medina, a Casa de las Américas Award winner.

“Most of the titles from the ‘Biblioteca del Pueblo’ (People’s Library) collection are also on sale here: *Las Honradas*, *Las Impuras*, works by Dostoevsky, the poetry of José Ángel Buesa, the complete poetry of Nicolás Guillén, the complete works of Virgilio Piñeira, and a 2025 catalog from the Letras Cubanas publishing house—which is quite current, given that we are in 2026. We have a selection of classics by José Martí and works by Manuel Moreno Fraginals, as well as a selection of books on ancient and contemporary history.”

For this Sancti Spíritus chapter of the International Book Fair, sales venues have been set up in three locations: tents in Serafín Sánchez Valdivia Park, the Julio Antonio Mella bookstore, and the Miguel Companioni *Casa de la Trova*, all featuring titles from Ediciones Luminarias.
