Sancti Spíritus University in the context of the energy matrix change
“The energy transition toward renewable energy sources has become an essential pillar for addressing the country’s current challenges,” stated Dr. Edelvy Bravo Amarante, Rector of the José Martí Pérez University of Sancti Spíritus. He also highlighted the significant contribution the university has made within the National Group of Universities for Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency (GNUFRE).
The GNUFRE group is responsible for researching clean energy and developing actions of strategic interest to the country in this field.
How has the University of Sancti Spíritus participated in this national strategy?
The university remains active in all aspects of the country’s energy transition strategy. Several of our experts have been participating in its development. Although the public is not yet directly seeing these results, research indicates that we are on the right track.
A peak generation of 900 megawatts was recently achieved at midday using the solar panels already installed, and work continues to reach 2,000 megawatts of installed photovoltaic capacity in the country.
Likewise, work continues on all aspects of renewable energy sources, not just photovoltaic solar.
