Trinidad’s Museum of Colonial Architecture turns 46
The Museum of Colonial Architecture in Trinidad, also known as the Blue House, celebrates its 46th anniversary, having promoted the architectural development of one of the best-preserved cities in the Americas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for Cuba and the world.
It was on November 4, 1979, that researchers Alicia García Santana, Teresita Ángel Bello Izquierdo, and Víctor Echenaguzía Peña transformed the former residence of the Sánchez Iznaga family into an essential example of the history of Cuba’s third largest city.
The Museum of Colonial Architecture is celebrating this milestone with the opening of the exhibition “Weaving Stories with Silk,” created by artisans Bárbara Arguelles Hernández and Mabel Martínez Pérez, members of the Silk Treasures project, which encourages girls and teenagers to work with silk.
