Torchlight March in homage to Martí

Thousands of young people from Sancti Spíritus will gather in the streets this January 27th to participate in the traditional Torchlight March, commemorating the birth of José Martí as a symbol of continuity and commitment.

The First Secretary of the Union of Young Communists, Abran Sánchez González, speaking to the press, explained that the march will begin with participants gathering at 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Central Road and Avenue of the Martyrs, from where they will proceed to Serafín Sánchez Park.

He added that the march’s main purpose is to pay tribute, alongside Martí, to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, as a demonstration of unity and patriotism among university students from Sancti Spíritus and in support of our social project.
