The National Electrical Power System is interconnected; however, the deficit persists
Shortly before 10:00 p.m. this Sunday, with the addition of Guantánamo province, the National Electric System was fully interconnected, as confirmed by the National Electric Union.
Earlier, the Cuban Television News broadcast had reported that Unit 1 of the Santa Cruz del Norte Thermoelectric Power Plant, Unit 4 of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes plant, and the Antonio Guiteras plant had been brought online.
These generating plants joined Energás Varadero and Boca de Jaruco, and Unit 3 of the Cienfuegos Thermoelectric Power Plant, which had already synchronized.
The same television broadcast specified that the Nuevitas, Renté, and Felton Thermoelectric Power Plants were still pending connection, all with their busbars energized and ready to synchronize during the night/early morning.
Sources from the Electric Union reiterated that although the system is fully interconnected, the deficit persists, so the incorporation of the pending power plants is very important, which, although they will not be able to cover all the demand, will contribute to making the SEN more robust.
