Sancti Spíritus will host a national event for World Environment Day

The strengthening of the provincial system of protected areas, the development of an effective strategy for implementing the circular economy as an efficient economic management method, the change in the energy matrix and its contribution to local development, and the policy to reduce single-use plastics are among the reasons why Sancti Spíritus was awarded the national headquarters for the fourth time in celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th.

The proper management of hazardous substances and waste, along with additional studies related to the reduction of hazards, vulnerabilities, and risks, all related to economic and human benefits, also contributed to the result, as summarized by the Deputy Delegate for the Environment, Néstor Álvarez Cruz.

The executive referred to the implementation of resource utilization, which has achieved great significance in the province of Sancti Spíritus. “The environmental benefits, which also contribute to improving the quality of life of the people of Sancti Spiritus, have been a determining factor in why Santa Espiritu is recognized nationwide for its efficient environmental management.”
