Sancti Spíritus University keeps moving forward

The 2026–2027 academic year officially began at the University of Sancti Spíritus “José Martí,” attended by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Alicia Alonso Becerra, and her team.

During the opening ceremony—attended by incoming students from the various degree programs offered at this Sancti Spíritus institution—the university’s Executive Council was introduced. Led by Rector Dr. Edelvy Bravo Amarante, the Council welcomed the students, noting that the upcoming academic year would be highly complex and would require greater autonomy, discipline, and responsibility.

“Distance learning demands greater maturity and responsibility; therefore, I urge you to make the most of every in-person session, to conduct research, and to delve deeply into your studies. The university welcoming you today is an institution that strives, reinvents itself, and places its full confidence in you.”
