Sancti Spíritus specifies measures in to the threat of Melissa
Deivy Pérez Martín, president of the Provincial Defense Council, and Vice President Alexis Lorente Jiménez, led the first meeting this Saturday when was declared the Information Phase for the province.
Initially, authorities received updated information on the evolution of the meteorological phenomenon thanks to the intervention of Celia Pino, senior specialist of the Forecasting Group of the Provincial Meteorological Center. She indicated that it is essential to pay attention to Melissa due to its high probability of becoming a major hurricane.
The specialist warned that, if it moves further west, the tropical organism could affect the province with rain, winds of up to 100 km/h, and even surges. However, she clarified that possible trajectories must be closely monitored in the coming hours.
