Sancti Spíritus reorganizes its cultural program

Preventing a cultural blackout in the current complex Cuban context, one of the most tense in recent times, is the highest aspiration of artists, intellectuals, managers and workers in the sector in Sancti Spíritus.

“Under these current conditions, we will not allow a cultural blackout to occur, under any circumstances. That would be tantamount to surrender. And from the cultural sector, we will continue to defend everything that has been achieved so far in these more than 60 years of revolution in the country,” said Yoel Pérez Triana, head of the Culture and Arts sector in Sancti Spíritus.

Pérez Triana confirmed that the communities will be the primary arena to defend. “There is a group of amateur artists, art instructors in training, who, thanks to the decentralization of education, are now also going to the communities in each of the municipalities.”

“We also have the strength of our subsidized artists in music, our creators in the performing arts, who are concentrated in the municipalities, and together with them, the cultural programming will also have the opportunity to be enriched there at the People’s Council level, in the territory itself.”
