Sancti Spíritus promotes export-strength tobacco (+Photos)

Dawn in the valleys of Sancti Spíritus is measured not only by the mist that embraces the furrows, but by the pulse of a tradition that, even with centuries behind it, never ceases to reinvent itself. There, where the earth cracks under the sun and water becomes treasure, the tobacco leaf sprouts like one guarding an inherited secret, polished by hands that know how to endure and strive.
But in these seasoned lands, inheritance isn’t enough. The green miracle no longer depends solely on capricious rain or prayers to the calendar: now science, innovation, and the will of those who plant dictate a different course for a crop that refuses to be passed away.
The Development Program for the Intensive Production of Wrapped Tobacco, conceived by the Cuban Tobacco Business Group (Tabacuba), is advancing in the province of Sancti Spíritus and involves some 20 producers who employ cutting-edge technology that facilitates leaf cultivation from seedbed to curing.
