Sancti Spíritus prioritizes attention to households with greater social vulnerability

The Provincial Council of People’s Power in Sancti Spíritus approved the results of the household characterization study conducted in the province. This study identified homes with the greatest social needs and facilitated the provision of support to vulnerable individuals.

The assessment covered more than 36,000 homes throughout the province and identified tens of thousands of people requiring individualized support, including elderly adults living alone, pregnant women, young children, people with chronic illnesses, and families facing persistent economic hardship.

This survey, in addition to providing a more accurate picture of the social situation in the province, now presents the challenge of keeping each case updated and translating the information into concrete actions at the community and local levels.

In this regard, Elaine Plasencia Afonso, a member of the Provincial Party Bureau, stated that this study is a fundamental tool, not only for identifying situations but also for addressing specific problems and improving support for vulnerable families.

Plasencia Afonso explained that the usefulness of the process lies not only in the data obtained, but in the possibility of using that information to better reach each household, review each profile in more depth and strengthen the response from the grassroots structures.
