Sancti Spíritus nominated for Lucas Awards with “Hasta Alicia Baila”

The music video “Hasta Alicia Baila,” showcasing the versatility of the Sancti Spíritus-based group Cuerdas del Alma—part of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS)—has been nominated for a Lucas Award in the instrumental music category. The news has filled everyone involved with joy, as confirmed by Abdel Martínez Castro, the video’s director and a filmmaker.

“To be eligible for the ‘El reino de este mundo’ grant, it was a requirement that the filmmaker be registered as an independent audiovisual creator, either with the ICAIC or the ISA. In my case, with the ICAIC,” explained Martínez Castro. “There are few creators registered in Sancti Spíritus, and therefore, the project came to me at the suggestion of the then-president of the AHS. I accepted the challenge despite having no prior experience in music videos.”
