Sancti Spíritus Medical University contributes new healthcare professionals
At Serafín Sánchez Valdivia Park, the University of Medical Sciences of Sancti Spíritus celebrated the graduation of new health professionals, marking the institution’s 40th anniversary and the centenary of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz.
The ceremony provided an opportunity to recognize graduates who earned “Gold Titles” (highest academic honors), as well as those belonging to the Mario Muñoz Vanguard Movement.
Others honored at the event included young people recognized for scientific merit, the most well-rounded students from each degree program, and outstanding achievers across various areas of university life.
Addressing the attendees, Dr. Claudia Silva Vega stated, “Dedicated to the centenary of the Commander-in-Chief’s birth, we are pleased to share today the final event in the series of graduations held this week across all the province’s municipalities.”
A total of 659 students graduated: 577 from higher education programs and 82 from technical-vocational training.
Jorge Luis Zequeira Peña was named the most well-rounded student of the graduating class and the top graduate of the 2025–2026 academic year.
The event concluded with remarks by Juan Luis Marcelo Pentón, Rector of the Medical University, who emphasized: “We do not ask of you what is easy. We ask for what is right: to remain faithful to your oath, to uphold ethics, and to pour your heart and soul into every consultation, every home, and every community.”
