Sancti Spíritus meat industry incorporates modern plant

In a solemn ceremony coinciding with the commemoration of the 99th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, the Sancti Spíritus Meat Company’s Mechanically Boneless Dough (MDM) plant was inaugurated, the first of its kind in the country.
The ceremony was presided over by prominent provincial leaders, including Julio Jiménez López and Dermis Ramírez, members of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, as well as Frank Osbel Cañizares, provincial vice-governor, and local and business authorities.
This plant, acquired with an investment of nearly one million dollars financed entirely by the company’s own foreign currency, marks a turning point in the Cuban food industry.
Its advanced technology allows it to process approximately 6,200 tons of cattle contracted to the agricultural sector and has the capacity to produce between 200 and 300 tons of high-quality MDM annually.
In addition, it can process pigs, goats, buffalo, and horses, thus expanding its productive impact.
