Sancti Spíritus honored Cuba’s best friend

Remembering Cuba’s best friend is to recall the moments of Latin American integration, expressed Lester Rodríguez Acosta, delegate of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in Sancti Spíritus, during the city’s tribute to the 13th anniversary of the death of Venezuelan Commander Hugo Chávez Frías.

The tribute at the ICAP headquarters in Sancti Spíritus included readings of poems and songs that reaffirmed Cuba’s position as a free and sovereign nation.

Likewise, Rodolfo del Pane, an Italian resident of Sancti Spíritus, spoke about the importance of solidarity in these times and how it, too, forms part of Chávez’s legacy.

Sancti Spíritus is proud to safeguard, as part of its heritage, one of the guayabera shirts worn by Venezuelan Commander Hugo Chávez Frías. It is part of the world’s largest collection of this garment.
