Sancti Spíritus has a New Lion

In a birth that had not occurred since 2016 in the province, a lion cub was born on May 6 at the Sancti Spiritus Zoo, an event that rarely happens in captivity.
According to Taimí Mencía Venegas, director of the zoo, the animal was named Jorgito and is evolving satisfactorily, gaining more than a pound of weight in the last few days thanks to the care of specialists.
According to Mencía Venegas, a birth of this type is only possible in captivity if the animals have a good diet and added that Jorgito came into the world together with another specimen as a consequence of a multiple birth, although only he managed to survive.
The gestation period in lionesses can last between 110 and 120 days when there are multiple births and they are carrying more than one stallion, although this was not the case.
