Sancti Spíritus CIGB , 35 years of science for life

When the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, suggested the creation of a Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) in the province during the national celebration in Sancti Spíritus of the 33rd anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks in Bayamo, the doors were opened in the territory for a new stage of science.
Three and a half decades after that event, the CIGB is today one of the scientific institutions in the country with a recognized endorsement for its work, both for the development of human and animal health, as well as for agricultural and livestock production.
