Recognition to Roberto Quesada’s Packing Plant in the energy matrix transition

The Roberto Quesada Processing Plant, part of the Sancti Spíritus Meat Company, was recognized for its role in shifting the energy mix—a decisive step toward the country’s energy sovereignty.

The facility became a scene of celebration where awards were also presented to workers and executives who have contributed to innovation and productivity within the local meat industry.

Among the honorees was young chemical engineer Mirialis Guevara Trujillo; she was selected by the National ANIR (National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers) as a young talent candidate for an innovation award and was nominated for the “Greatest Impact” award.

Additionally, Dony Alberto Gómez Salas, General Director of the Sancti Spíritus Meat Company, was honored by the local CTC (Workers’ Central Union of Cuba), and the entity he leads received the “August 13th Recognition”—an award established as a one-time honor in the province.

The program included a tour of the company’s various business units, where discussions were held with workers regarding the implementation of 176 measures to boost the economy, and details were shared about projects aimed at achieving productive and energy autonomy.

During this union-led gathering, the shift in the energy mix was highlighted—specifically the replacement of oil-fired boilers with heavy fuel oil systems at the Roberto Quesada Processing Plant and the Meat Processing Complex—as a means to sustain production and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
