Plenary Session of the Provincial Party Committee Evaluates Implementation of Transformations in Sancti Spíritus

The role of the Party in driving the implementation of the country’s socio-economic transformations was the focus of analysis at the plenary session of the political organization’s Provincial Committee in Sancti Spíritus.

Participants agreed that these transformations necessitate greater flexibility and a new kind of economic openness aimed at generating wealth—an essential foundation for improving social policies.

Using concrete examples, they discussed how these opportunities should be seized equally by state and non-state economic actors, both of whom share a similar commitment to contributing to the territorial development strategy. Attention was also drawn to their social responsibility—not merely as a formality, but as a means of creating a “voluntary reserve” from increased earnings to support social institutions and vulnerable individuals.

In this regard, Deivy Pérez Martín, a member of the Party’s Central Committee and First Secretary in Sancti Spíritus, emphasized: “Until now, this hasn’t been done—either due to a lack of oversight and enforcement, or because it was viewed as a spontaneous matter: ‘when I want to, when I can, when I see fit, or when I’m summoned or called upon.’ I believe that by effectively organizing our relationships with these economic actors and holding them accountable, we can achieve superior results in the province.”
