Nora Quintana: a symbol of female strength in Sancti Spíritus (+ photos)
The Revolution is not only written with rifles and incantations, but also with voices that bloom like butterflies on the earth. Among them, the firm and serene voice of Nora Quintana Vázquez stands out as a symbol of dedication and defense of women’s rights.
“I actually started in the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in ’76, when it was founded, without yet knowing what it was all about, because what existed was an experience in Matanzas that they weren’t familiar with. And that work really helped me understand the things we had to do, how we should collaborate, men and women. I don’t believe discrimination is possible because I’ve worked with wonderful male colleagues and wonderful female colleagues as well.
“In the Provincial Assembly, I also handled a very beautiful, very difficult task, which was the province’s international relations. But well, everything is possible when you put your heart into it, when you put your heart into it, when you put your heart into the task, and that’s how it’s achieved.”
“In the Provincial Assembly, I also oversaw a very beautiful, very difficult activity, which was the province’s international relations. But well, everything is possible when you put your heart into it, when you put your heart into the task, and that’s how it’s done.”
” Since 1976, when she assumed leadership of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, Nora paved the way for equality and women’s participation in all spheres of public life. Her influence also transcended borders. As a member of international delegations, she proudly championed the ability of Cuban women to represent the country on any stage.
