New notary law in force, adapted to the current context
With the aim of improving legal certainty and making notarial services more accessible, Law 175 of the Notary Profession has come into effect in Cuba. This legislation introduces significant changes adapted to the current social reality and the needs of the population, with a special emphasis on vulnerable groups.
This was explained by Gleidis Rodríguez Reyes, Head of the Notary Department, who highlighted that the law responds to the current context and pays special attention to children, adolescents, and senior citizens. “This is very important for senior citizens because it introduces a new legal figure for them,” she noted.
Among the most relevant innovations are the procedural streamlines that reduce time and costs. Rodríguez Reyes explained that “witnesses are no longer required for wills and marriages,” which simplifies these procedures.
