Neisa Muro: a woman distinguished by her commitment, dedication, and humanism
Commitment, dedication, and humanity are words that define the work of Neisa Muro Ríos—a native of Sancti Spíritus, a prosecutor by profession, and the current president of the Provincial Electoral Council in Sancti Spíritus.
She is an empowered woman deeply attuned to the current times, having dedicated 38 years of her life to work that has allowed her to grow both as a woman and as a human being. “Being a woman and a leader… one has to balance high standards with a humanistic approach—helping people while remaining demanding and disciplined. I view high standards and discipline as a way to help instill those principles in everyone working alongside us.”
Born in the village of Natividad in the municipality of La Sierpe, Sancti Spíritus, Neisa recalls moments from her childhood, noting that “it is good to remember where we come from to know where we are going.” She adds, “I started early—before I was even of age. I come from a working-class background; I was born in the countryside, at the ‘7 de Noviembre’ Sugar Mill. That is where I spent part of my life—where I experienced my earliest moments.”
“I was always involved in the Pioneers’ Organization and other groups. I really enjoyed participating in contests and all the activities that were organized. My parents instilled that in me—or at least made it possible. They were determined that, even though they hadn’t had the chance themselves, we—the four siblings—could find our path and get an education, even living in that little corner of the ‘7 de Noviembre’ community. And we did manage to study. I even had to attend a boarding school for the sixth grade. That kind of experience shapes you; you had to balance your studies with work.”
Neisa Muro Ríos loves being a prosecutor and credits the Municipal Prosecutor’s Office of Sancti Spíritus for her professional training and career development.
