Mountain communities receive attention for social and economic complexities in Sancti Spíritus
The mountain communities of Condado, Algarrobo, Pedrero, and La Picadora are among those with the greatest sociopolitical and economic complexity in the province of Sancti Spíritus.
These communities were selected based on a national study regarding the conditions of 67 mountain settlements, which was reviewed by local authorities and institutions.
Following that assessment, the province organized site visits and initiatives aimed at identifying key challenges and engaging in dialogue with institutional representatives and local residents, according to a report presented to the Sancti Spíritus Provincial Government Council.
The *Plan Turquino* maintains a special focus on these communities, which face a convergence of challenges related to basic services, infrastructure, food production, and population dynamics.
