Manuel Echevarría: Critic and Journalist

If I had to use one word to define the journalist Manuel Echevarría Gómez, I would use one word: Ethics.

He was born in Sancti Spiritus on January 28, 1946, he graduated in Art History at the University of Havana and became a journalist -according to him- by chance.

Manuel Echevarría worked for many years in the cultural page of the Escambray newspaper and from there he promoted artistic criticism with the tools of a profound connoisseur.

Founder of the cultural supplement Vitrales, his most extensive works, which exceeded what is permissible for a newspaper, were published in this specialized supplement, a publication that recently celebrated its anniversary.

According to Manuel, having worked in the cultural sector for so many years made it possible for him to address critical issues without self-censorship and receiving the support of all.
