Lesvia Rodríguez with Vilma among the new generations

Cuban women have amply demonstrated their creative talent, professional capacity, and leadership in various spheres of society. Lesvia Rodríguez Gardó is a prime example of this.

The professor and researcher at the Julio Antonio Mella Municipal University Center in Trinidad has dedicated herself to highlighting Vilma Espín’s legacy among the new generations.

“She is a very valuable figure who is present, and all Cuban women should remember Vilma Espín because thanks to them, we have the freedom to be who we want to be and to empower ourselves in any sphere of social life.”

And it was precisely her admiration for Vilma that inspired her to dedicate a winning song to her in the contest organized by the Federation of Cuban Women.

“The song has served as an educational tool to highlight revolutionary values, the values of patriots, and in this case, the figure of Vilma. That is the contribution of this award, the contribution of the song.”

In addition to her responsibilities as coordinator of the preschool education program in the southern territory, Lesvia stands out for her women’s activism in the Casilda People’s Council, where she resides, and her work with young women.
