Hygienic epidemiological situation demands urgent actions in Trinidad
The increase in febrile cases and patients with symptoms similar to those described in the chikungunya virus literature activated the alarms of the Health system in the municipality of Trinidad, which today confirms the presence of this arbovirus, with a high incidence of patients.
Dr. Luis Manuel Sáenz Martínez, general director of Health in Trinidad, warned that “we are facing a situation that must be addressed quickly because there continues to be a significant number of feverish cases.”
The hygienic-epidemiological situation is then evaluated as complex, also aggravated by the transmission of dengue. This requires strategic, urgent action with a marked intersectoral approach in order to reduce the environmental risks responsible for the high infestation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
In this health context, the analyzes from the Municipal Bureau of the Party evaluated in black and white the deficiencies that limit the progress of the actions to be carried out, in the first order, by the health sector, aimed at carrying out investigations of febrile cases, the home admission of patients and the control of outbreaks.
The specialist insisted on the importance of paying attention to the symptoms. “Like dengue, chikungunya has an onset period. The quicker the attention, the better the prognosis.”
