Meliá Trinidad Península Hotel achieves greater use of photovoltaic energy

The installation of 30 solar batteries increases the energy storage capacity of the more than 1,500 photovoltaic panels that sustain the stable operation of the Meliá Trinidad Península hotel, the only one in the country’s tourism sector that maximizes the use of natural energy sources.

The installation of the new batteries, overseen by electrical engineer Dani Ruiz Díaz, who works at the Cuban branch of the Spanish company PROMAEL “Suministros Eléctricos,” means that the expansion of the battery bank to a total of 80 batteries increases the hotel’s energy self-sufficiency.

“It was necessary to install 30 more batteries because the demand in the engine room, which is block 2, had fallen short. With the arrival of other equipment, the capacity increased, and the system was experiencing constant failures.”
