Girls from Sancti Spiritus receive a new preventive vaccine
More than 1,300 girls in the province of Sancti Spíritus have already received the vaccine against the human papillomavirus in a campaign that is progressing without setbacks or negative incidents in the territory.
According to Niuvis Fundora Martín, head of the Provincial Immunization Program, the Secolim Vivalente vaccine is currently being successfully applied, which protects against genotypes 16 and 18 of the aforementioned virus.
Fundora Martín explained that this dose is inoculated according to the current school scheme and is intended for girls who are in fourth grade and are nine years old or older.
The vaccine against the human papillomavirus was incorporated for the first time into the National Childhood Immunization Scheme in Cuba, which marks a milestone in the prevention of cervical-uterine cancer and will benefit more than two thousand girls in Sancti Spíritus.
