Electric cars in Trinidad ensure transport for hemodialysis patients
The deployment of 10 electric cars to transport hemodialysis patients from the municipality of Trinidad to Sancti Spíritus has alleviated concerns among Taxis Cuba agency officials regarding fuel shortages.
Under a program organized by the agency itself, these new vehicles ensure—smoothly and with the necessary comfort—the transport of approximately 20 patients to the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial General Hospital.
“The schedule is split into two shifts—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—with each car carrying one patient and an accompanying person. Each vehicle is driven by a professional driver, in full compliance with the operational protocols for these cars,” explains Israel Ortega González, an operations specialist at the Taxis Cuba agency’s commercial office in Trinidad. He also discussed the strategies being used to keep the new fleet of electric vehicles running.
