Cybersecurity Day in Sancti Spíritus warns about frequent digital deceptions

The Sancti Spiritus version of the fourth National Cybersecurity Day included in its programming a conference on mobile phone security.

The activity is part of the multiple spaces dedicated to raising awareness among citizens about protection in the digital environment.

During the conference, given by computer specialist Ibrain Salgado Paz, topics such as the differences between physical and digital spaces were addressed, highlighting the importance of cyberspace in modern life.

Special emphasis was also placed on the fact that older people are one of the most vulnerable groups to cyber attacks, due to their lesser familiarity with technologies.

The expert explained that cybercriminals seek to steal personal information, install malicious programs or control mobile devices through deception.

It was explained that most attacks, in more than 90% of cases, do not directly affect devices, but rather people, since it is easier to manipulate them to get what they want.

Among the topics addressed, the techniques that criminals use to deceive victims stood out.

The specialist showed clear and common examples, and recommended basic security measures to defend themselves, especially for those who were not born in the digital age.

These include using strong passwords and being wary of suspicious messages.

Finally, a practical exercise was carried out for attendees to identify if their passwords were vulnerable, in order to understand that many passwords they regularly use do not offer sufficient protection.

The day served to emphasize that, in the face of cyber attacks, care and education are the best weapons to maintain security in digital life.
