Cuerdas del Alma represents Cuba at the Guitar Festival in Mexico

Back on Cuban land, the four young guitarists who bring Cuerdas del Alma to life maintained the brilliance that surrounds good vibes, sincere emotions, and ovations… It was a time of celebration for the project with roots in Sancti Spíritus, during the XXII International Guitar Festival of Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

“We represented Cuba from the very first chord,” explains Luis Javier García, son of La Sierpe, the ever-remembered professor at the Ernesto Lecuona School of Art, now a guitar student at the University of the Arts in Havana. “And it was, without a doubt, a wonderful experience.”

Concerts, visits to educational institutions where they led workshops, and, of course, constant dialogue with other participants, such as the Trío Austral, distinguished the group’s first international tour.
