Transtur delivers donations to homes for children and adolescents without parental care
The gathering went beyond the formalities of a simple handover. The donation provided by workers from the Transtur S.A. branch in Sancti Spíritus province to the children’s homes in Cabaiguán and Sancti Spíritus radiated the best of colors: that of love and humanism.
This was evident in the faces and voices of Raisy, Ruth, Gelen, and Yenifer—some of the ten children who bring life to the Cabaiguán home.
In times like these, the gifts brought by the TRANSTUR workers—clothing, food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and even creams and perfumes with the special scents every child deserves—are certainly needed. Yet, there is a value beyond mere money when people share the fruits of their own hard-earned labor during difficult times. Maivi Pérez Camacho, Director General of Education in Cabaiguán, recognizes this: “No contribution from any individual or entity is ever ‘modest’; it is truly a significant contribution. Our children need it today.” Leticia Rodríguez Cabrera, the home’s director, added: “No gesture you make toward us is ever too small. We are deeply grateful; blessings to you and to us.”
Welcoming those present, Ania Medinilla Nápoles, director of the Sancti Spíritus home, described the family-like effort dedicated to the upbringing of the 13 children living there. Afterward, the morning was filled with dance and even clowns; children and adolescents showcased the values they had learned there, their faces lighting up with delight at the Transtur gift.
“We utilize two fundamental elements,” explained Yansy Turiño Gutiérrez, director of the Transtur branch. “One is a fund we created from worker contributions specifically for social causes. The other involves direct collection or individual salary contributions from workers to donate primarily to education and healthcare. We mainly provide toiletries, cleaning supplies, clothing, and food.” In the specific case of Sancti Spíritus, there was a need for certain household appliances, and cooking pots were donated.
