Fiscal oversight actions lead to the recovery of over 300 million pesos in Sancti Spíritus

The National Tax Administration Office in Sancti Spíritus has collected over 300 million pesos so far this year as part of fiscal control measures that have uncovered the under-reporting of income by taxpayers.

Marisleidy Pérdigón Pérez, First Deputy Director of ONAT in the province, noted that “the provincial office has carried out 1,549 actions—including those involving eight importing companies—resulting in the assessment of 314 million 871 thousand pesos, with a 100 percent success rate.”

“In other words, 100 percent of the taxpayers we audited had under-declared their income. That figure of 14 million pesos represents amounts that these taxpayers failed to declare or pay on time during the required period; consequently, the ONAT takes action and imposes sanctions—such as late-payment surcharges for failing to pay within the established timeframe, or the corresponding monetary fines.”

According to the source, the ONAT has access to more information, which facilitates more effective tax oversight. “As part of its operations, the ONAT established a tax oversight plan at the beginning of the year specifically targeting imports. We now have access to all Customs data, as well as information regarding payments made by state entities—such as enterprises or budgeted units—to private-sector actors (or ‘individuals,’ as we call them). We also rely on the taxpayer profiling and analysis conducted by the Office itself.”
