Comprehensive visits to economic actors prioritize prices, fiscal oversight, and electronic payments

An initiative known as the “Comprehensive Visit to Economic Actors” is being carried out in Sancti Spíritus province. It aims to engage in dialogue with business owners and other commercial operators, focusing particularly on those selling essential food products and hygiene items.

In accordance with established guidelines, the initiative pursues three main objectives: helping to curb abusive and speculative pricing, strengthening fiscal oversight, and advancing the “banking” process—specifically the adoption of online payment gateways.

The visiting teams comprise Party officials, representatives from provincial and municipal government bodies, and officials from the Prosecutor’s Office, the Comptroller’s Office, the Finance and Prices department, inspection and oversight agencies, the banking sector, the Labor Directorate, and other entities involved in monitoring economic activity.

Authorities clarified that the initiative involves direct engagement with economic actors to understand how prices are set, identify market distortions, and—where applicable—demonstrate the existence of speculative margins or violations of current regulations.

Specific goals of the exercise include getting establishments to lower prices deemed excessive, make required bank deposits, and accept online payments, thereby addressing recurring public concerns regarding rising prices, tax evasion, and limited access to electronic payment channels.
