Replacement of Electrical transformers in Sancti Spíritus
The replacement of 4 and 19 kilovolt electrical transformers with 13 kV units is progressing in Sancti Spíritus as part of the network rehabilitation efforts that are resuming in various areas of the province to prevent outages and damage.
According to Odeivy Valdés Alba, technical director of the Sancti Spíritus Electric Company, the new transformers offer greater technical performance and operational stability, and have the advantage of being manufactured in Cuba, which facilitates their availability for investment maintenance programs.
“Today we are replacing transformers to increase the capacity of the electrical service throughout the province. The 19 kV transformers are inherently delicate by design, and even if one burns out, we currently have no solution for them.”
The replacement of this equipment is part of a strategy aimed at modernizing the territory’s electrical infrastructure and reducing the problems associated with the deterioration of components that have accumulated years of use.
