Medardo Vila Méndez: the man who makes flourish the city of Sancti Spíritus

In the legendary city of Sancti Spíritus, the beauty of its parks and avenues is no accident. Behind every pruned tree and every clean space lies the dedication of men like Medardo Vila Méndez, an agricultural worker with the Municipal Services Department, who at 68 years old has dedicated more than three decades to the care of green spaces.

His job, which began almost by chance, became a passion. “I got into it because I liked it, and I still do. I love seeing things beautiful, everything clean,” he confesses simply, while recalling the day he decided to join the Municipal Services Department after watching others work. Since then, pruning has become his way of serving the community.
