Major General Serafín Sánchez Valdivia Park in Sancti Spíritus was the site of a commemorative event marking the 67th anniversary of the arrival of the Caravan of Freedom in the city. This event commemorated the journey of Fidel Castro Ruz and the revolutionary fighters through the central region of the country in January 1959.
Attendees included authorities from the Communist Party of Cuba, the provincial and municipal governments, representatives from the Cuban Workers’ Federation, the Young Communist League, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution.
During the ceremony, a minute of silence was observed in their honor, paying tribute to the 32 Cuban combatants who died on international missions in Venezuela. These individuals belonged to the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior.
