Sancti Spíritus: Dengue decreases, chikungunya advances
The epidemiological situation of Sancti Spíritus remains complex while clinical studies and analyzes by the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine confirm a decrease in dengue and an increase in cases of chikungunya in the territory.
Carlos Luis Santos, director of the Provincial Hygiene Center, insisted on reinforcing community surveillance and vector control while calling for extreme prevention measures to contain the spread of these diseases.
For her part, Mirtha Santos León, director of Medical Care of the province, explained that the clinical management of these diseases is symptomatic, with hydration, fever control and monitoring of alarm signs.
The health authorities of Sancti Spíritus reiterate that individual discipline and community cooperation are essential to face the current epidemiological scenario.
