The satisfaction of serving others is priority in Cuba tourism sector

Reiner Rendón Fernández was barely 20 years old when he entered the tourism industry. He witnessed the birth of most of the hotel facilities in the province of Sancti Spíritus.

“We started as a quality specialist at the Sancti Spíritus tourism company, and I was soon appointed head of the services department at the former tourism company. From there, we moved through various responsibilities. I am now a product manager at a tourism company. Along the way, we have managed several hotels, such as Las Cuevas.

“I was closely involved in the investment process for a group of buildings, especially in the historic center, that were restored. We have Plaza Santana, what is now La Bodeguita del Medio, Canchánchara itself, the Hotel Costa Sur, the Rijo and Plaza hotels, and the Hotel Memoris Trinidad del Mar. I was later a delegate for Cubanacán, and for more than 13 years I was the delegate for the Minister of Tourism in the province of Sancti Spíritus.

“Tourism is a very open, multisectoral industry that has provided a great deal of professional and cultural training.
